Budapest Zoo

It was another nice hot day so yesterday we went to the Budapest Zoo! It was cool seeing all the animals esp when you have a little one with you (Mariko)...

My fave animal was the little monkey, he was an entertaining little fella! We were still inside an enclosure but there was no cage between the lil dude and the ppl!

The Blacktail prairie dog's were really cute too!!!

Hot day, Cold swim

It was also sooooooooooo hot on Saturday that it called for a swim! After Ikea we came hm and jumped straight in the pool! We ate our ice creams in there too =) Attila also had his brewsky while floating in his blow up chair.

Mariko

The second day in Hungary we went to Ikea to get some mosquito nets!!!

We went and had some lunch at their little cafe there and Attila's little cute cousin Mariko had a drink fest and drank about 4 cups of juice (not bad for a little 2 1/2 yr old)...we kept giving her more straws to drink out of and Attila got the camera out just as it was dripping everywhere :P

Wien (Vienna)

We didnt take that many pictures when we got to Wien! We were there for one night and one day and walked around for most of the day looking at sights in the city (with in the ring)

We made the time to go to the famous Hotel Sacher, where they make the worlds famous Sachertorte!

I am the biggest fan of chocolate and chocolate cake so I had high expectations and unfortunately I didnt like it. It had a strange taste to me, it was real tangy and I thought it would be like a rich moist chocolate mud cake :( ohwell at least I can say I tried it..

It wasnt cheap though, we ordered 2 sachertorte, 1 chocolate shake and a hot chocolate and it came to about Au $30. I dont think it will be something I will have again...

Neuschwanstein Panorama

Another photo of Neuschwanstein and the beautiful panorama view from Neuschwanstein that Attila captured.

It really looks like something from a fairy tale doesnt it? No wonder they used it in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and as inspiration for Walt Disneys Cinderella Castle :P

Aussie Bars

We also came across a Ned Kelly Australian Bar in Munich!!!!

It's so funny to come across them, we've seen a few Australian Bars in Germany already.

The bar was full of Oz memorabilia, even the coasters had koalas and kangaroos on them AND they even had a few Aussie beers (VB, Carlton Cold, Crown Lager, Fosters) Attila was so ready for his VB, but they ran out!!!! He was devo and had to settle for a Carlton Cold.

It was a great little place, made me think of hm and feel proud to be an Aussie :P

Munich

After Sweiz we went back to Munich and stayed there for a few days with Attila's buddy Marcus. He took us to a few places in the city during the time we were there...

We went to a big beer garden (where I'm holding the massive jug of beer and pretending it's mine :P) we stayed there and chilled for an hour or two listening to the band and then catching up with Mike who studied at SAE with Attila.

We also climbed up the famous "Old Peter" church (the pic where we look like we could be in a cage, top right and the two nxt to that one!) I was SO out of breath climbing all those steps and then when we got to the top I was a bit freaked out as it was about 90 meters high, u stepped outside and it was just a ledge that went out and around the church and had that cage like bar around it. The boys didnt know how freaked out I was!!

We caught an english movie (I think they show these in germany once a day) as one of the days there was rainy and miserable.

Then the rest of the time we ate and ate and ate =) had to try some traditional Bavarian food! I'll say it again and again, these Germans know how to cook and I'll definitely miss their food when we return home :P

Zurich (Switzerland)

We decided to go to Sweiz last Sat so we took the train from Dresden to Zurich (with a 1 hr stop in Munich). It took us about 11 hours of travel so we were pretty tired when we arrived!

I got Attila onto the Da Vinci Code on our stop at Munich as those first few hrs got a bit boring, so we thought it would be a good time filler to get some books for the last leg..I continued with a series by Jean M Auel that I was reading a few mths ago. (Attila doesn't even read books but he's now hooked and he's more than half way through :P)

Our train back to Munich the next day was at 6:30pm so we really only had a few hrs to run around Zurich. We decided to do a 4 hr organised tour, instead of exhausting ourselves walking around everywhere.

It was really good cause not only do you see the most important things and learn a bit more about the country, the city and its history, majority of the time ur sitting down on the bus which is what we like :P :P :P I know we are a tad bit lazy.

It must be said Switzerland=THE BEST Chocolate, Milk and Cheese!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just a quick entry from me (Attila) since Fi is reading her book and I'm computer buzi... We went to Neuschwanstein castle but didn't get in (would've been hours and hours of waiting) so we went to the lookout and walked down the hill before we got some food in a nice little restaurant far away from the tourist madness. (see apple strudel, above :D )

I hope Fi will blog about Switzerland and all that now that the pics are on her laptop. Today, we'll go to Vienna. It'll be fairly late so we won't be able to have a look around there today, but hopefully tomorrow.

At the Fortress

Our Kodak moments at the Fortress..
Posted by Picasa

Festungs Königstein

Yesterday we went to Festungs Königstein which is about 30km south-east of Dresden near the Czech border.

The fortress was built in the 13th century then rebuilt and improved in later periods. Sitting atop a hill about 240m above the River Elbe, you can see from the pic it has awesome views of the Sächsische Schweiz.

The grounds of the fortress house Europe's biggest open-air military history museum.

We spent a few hours walking around with our handy audio aid, spoken by a nice old British chap named Jonathon, who filled us in on all the histrory of all the different buildings within the Fortress.

The view was stunning, it was really interesting seeing all the history, and the 150m well was very impressive.

This was taking in the car at the traffic lights on the way to Peter pumpkin eater's pl just as the sun was setting!

I think it looks gooood! Considering I only had 3 secs before the lights changed!

As you can see by the look on the boys faces, there wasnt much talent down by the lake

Wake Boarding

Yesterday we went down to the lake to watch some wake boarding! It was busy down there for it was another (almost) 40 degree day!!!

We've both never seen anything like it! As you can see from the pics it was a huge lake. They had all these lines that ran through and around the lake and a few little ramps in the water to jump off for the wake boarding! You just have to hold on..

Apparently if it's really busy and you pay for an hour, if you let go, you have to swim back and wait in line for the next avail and sometimes you only end up with 10 mins if it's really busy, if it's only one lap your doing and you fall off, you dont get to jump back on! Not very fair is it :P

The water was freezing so Attila didnt wanna jump in...I could've but didnt wanna go in there on my own :P yeah I'm a wuss!

The Austrians [it got deleted :( ]

This is meant to be back where the schintzel pic is...for some reason it got deleted!

So by the time we got to Flo's Place in Austria, we were starving!!!!!!

Attila as usual ordered everyone around to make him his schnitzel :P It was well worth the wait! Those boys make the best schnitzel in the whole wide world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our last schnitzel party with the Austrians was December last in Sunrise! We have missed their schnitzel...and them too!!

The weather during our short stay was freezing, rainy and miserable and it was a shame we couldnt stay longer to check out more of Austria (or little Germany as Attila calls it :P)

Hopefully we can make it for the party on the 27th otherwise we'll see them again before the red bull race!!!!!! (and maybe Oz if they come back!!!!!)

This was when we went to the concert to see Roger Cicero, in Dresden, by the river with that back drop. Pretty impressive I say! What do you think? What a spot to see a band or a movie huh?? Very very nice... :)

It was a really good show, was all in German but I enjoyed it still :P I knew one of their songs from Peter's myspace profile!!

Attila has more pics in his gallery on his website if ya'll wanna have a peek!
